Kids 12 Years & Up - Workshop Option C

Electronics 2: Build a thermocouple with a digital readout! Stuff and solder a pc board, mount ic’s (integrated circuits), mount LED displays and assemble the unit. After calibrating your pocket tc, measure the temperature of boiling and freezing water! How long does it take for an aluminum rod to get hot? Stainless steel? - GET HOT! 

Waves: Learn about amplitude, wavelength and frequency. Using a mechanical wave machine, learn about traveling and standing waves, diffraction and refraction. Using a ripple tank see water waves. With tuning forks, listen to sound waves. With lasers and optical benches, look at light waves... see diffraction, refraction, focusing and interference! - SURF’S UP!
