Notes
from the meeting
There were no formal
minutes taken during this meeting since the meeting was mostly informational.
A portion of the discussion dealt with issues related to the YPP bylaws.
[Please ask someone of the core team for details.]
During the discussion
of possible future activities at SLAC the following suggestions were made
among others:
-
Work on public outreach:
Organize an overview meeting on what is already done at SLAC and point
out volunteer opportunities. In addition discuss which additional
projects would make sense. (E.g. work with local schools building
and operating cloud chambers.) Have ongoing meetings for specific
projects.
-
Discussion on "How to
talk to non-scientists". Maybe find a project to practice it.
-
Introduction to how
the funding in HEP works.
-
Meetings to educate
ourselves on the opportunities of future HEP facilities. Discussions
of advantages and disadvantages, invite experts for these discussions.
(This shouldn't compete with seminar talks, but rather enable us to figure
out the essential issues w.r.t. future projects.)
-
... [Did I forget anything
else?] ...
Again, these notes are
certainly not concise.
