HEP Funding 102: the University Perspective
with
Stewart Smith,
Princeton University, former Babar spokesman
on
Wednesday, 15 January 2003
at 12:30 pm
in the Orange Room
The original invitation:
Dear YPP'ers,
Since the topic of HEP funding received a lot of interest during Jonathan
dorfan's "HEP funding 101" talk last year, we're going to continue
discussing
it in "HEP funding 102".
Our speaker will be Stew Smith of Princeton University. Stew was BaBar
spokesperson until recently, and so could give us both the perspective of the
university group and that of funding large detector projects. In addition to
HEP funding, Stew will also discuss issues of careers in physics and applying
for jobs.
Stew has asked that people send in questions in advance, on either topic, to
help guide him to what you want to know. You can either send the questions to
him directly, or to me and I'll assemble them into a single list. Please also
feel free to post questions to this mailing list for pre-meeting discussion.
The meeting will take place Wednesday, Jan 15, 12:30-1:30 pm in the orange
room, and snacks will be served (Courtesy of SLUO).
See you there,
Abi
