February Seminar

Wednesday, February 28, 2007 - 12 Noon - 1:00pm

"Kids's Day @ SLAC,
The Movie"

WIS initiated Take Your Daughter to Work Day  in 1994. The nearly annual event has included both boys and girls since 2002, and was renamed Kids Day @ SLAC. A video documentation professional, Dr Cynthia Gehrie, shot over ten hours of video in the preparation of and during Kids Day 2006. Parts of this footage, as well as photographs from past Kids and Daughters Days, have been incorporated into a short (about 23 minutes) fast paced movie. WIS is pleased to present the movie so you can be amazed at what the kids do in our shops and labs and you will learn a little about SLACs technical activities yourselves.

Portions of science talks and all nineteen workshops are included in the Kids Day movie. Also included are interviews with scientists, engineers, technicians, other volunteers and SLAC administrators. The movie captures the excitement, inspiration and sense of community that the day engenders. The movie will start at 12:10 pm sharp in the Kavli Auditorium. Time for questions and comments will follow.

The next Kids Day will be on Tuesday, August 21, 2007
