speaking on

What do Free Elections Mean for

Women in the Muslim World?

Revolution has shaken the Middle East, sending unrest
throughout the region out with the old and in with the new.
How will womens issues be represented in the new
democracies?  And will Islamist parties pursue an agenda that
may hurt the interests of Muslim women?

Prof. Blaydes, an expert on the Middle East, has explored the
reasons for the persistence of patriarchal norms in the Islamic
world.   Join us to hear Prof. Blaydes give further details on
what she discovered about the lives and aspirations of Muslim
women through her analysis of her observational data.
