Garden Club 2001 Meeting Minutes
March 25, 2001
- SLAC has completed disking the new garden area due West of the present site.
- Soil samples were taken - no findings.
- Hans and Francis have surveyed the plot, staked it out, made a map.
- About 80 plots are available (compared to 50 in old garden) but going fast.
- Water will be brought in on a 2 inch main down the main road from the top.
- Risers with 4 spigots will be installed at each lateral path (20 ft intervals).
- We expect water within 2 roughly weeks, maybe sooner.
- A perimeter fence to the South and East will be installed on the same time scale.
- Entrance to the garden will be from above through the gate below present plot.
- Garden club has about $450 in the coffer.
- Site fees will be $10 for each 10 x 20 ft plot. Nadine will collect fees by 5/1.
- We still need help from SLAC on the following items (Jeff to call Roz):
- Finer cut on soil
- SLAC rents us a large rototiller
- SLAC brings in a small tractor (can't hit stakes)
- Move tool shed (Rich Torres might be able to get this done)
- Proposed site is 10 feet West of boundary monitor (centrally located, rocky soil)
- Shaving/manure mix - George Irwin can help?
- Mushroom compost - George can help locate (~$300 for 30 yard)
- Garden Club will take care of:
- Fix wheelbarrow wheels (Tony Tran might be able to get this done)
- Tool inventory, hoses, other needs - volunteer or report to Jeff or Hans.
- Work day - strictly volunteer, date TBD.
