Treasury Report: We have about 80 plots and take in about
$1000/yr. Last year we spent a combined $1200 on compost, water supplies and
tools.
Waiting List: Surveyed plots on map will be issued as
available. Master topo map has been
generated. Last two years we went
through the waiting list, hopefully this year will likely be the same.
Water: A new tap was supposed to be provided as
part of the User Lodge Project (Kingston Chan). We may have a work-weekend to
increase pressure (garden club money, garden club labor).
If you find water running
unattended, turn it off. Conversely, do not leave water running unattended.
There is a leak about 2/3 down
the main line (old Olvsen plot) and probably one higher up on the main line. DO
NOT TAP INTO THE MAIN LINE OR RISERS PRIOR TO REVIEW BY GARDEN CLUB BOARD.
Report all leaks to Corbett/Imfeld. If not leak serious, shut off valve at top
of line. If leak above top of line, there is a valve near Gate 17. Inform Gate Guard of your intention. In
emergency, contact SLAC (Torres/McMahon/Fry/Skaggs/Penacci)
Compost - Like last year, two separate loads will be delivered, staggered in
time. Compost cannot be used for soil not identified with a plot number on
official plot grid. If compost is left over, it may be purchased at price set
by treasurer.
Vehicular Access: Dust was a problem along the West Access
road so we were instructed to keep cars off. Access by hotel is TBD. Use
East Gate for vehicular
access.
General Access: East gate breach will be sealed. West gate
will be sealed - we need to monitor situation with User Lodge visitors.
New Locks: East and West gates will be fitted with new
locks. Contact a garden club member for combination. Shed to remain unlocked.
Note: Garden area is designated for garden club use. Please to not
invite SLAC personnel to 'pioneer' unused land. Inform them to apply for plots
via waiting list. Access to garden area by non-members is o.k. (SLAC/Stanford
property) but watch after your neighbors.
Last man out locks gates.
Sewer: Last year there was a sewer problem along
the South Fence that required heavy machinery to fix. Re-occurrence is not
probable but plant in that area at your own risk.
Dumpster: SLAC pays for dumpster. Use it. Do not
overflow garbage cans. Organic waste can be piled off road near East Gate for
compost.
Pioneering: A general freeze was instituted last season with work to date grand fathered in. Beware of sewer line work along South fence - plant at your own risk.
Wash Station: A washbasin will be installed near shed with
drainage to the South.
Tool Inventory: Tool supply is
good, including PVC repair parts. If you break a tool or water line, report to
Imfeld/Corbett/Kurita. You will
not be charged. Hose and wheelbarrow
inventory will be upgraded. Sledgehammer will be provided.
Plot Markers: Need a volunteer to fabricate plot
markers.
Rototilling:
Contact Gene Alvarado rototil-for-fee. X 2236
New Business:
Model showing future build out of SLAC in Auditorium breezeway indicates
PEP Loop Road re-routed through the garden.
Closer inspection shows a
retrofit in the model indicating the existing Loop Road is the correct route.
Chances of re-route are small because of cost-benefit to SLAC. Garden club will
contact long-range site planning committee and send a letter to management
expressing our concerns.
