Minutes of the E163 Civil
Construction Meeting,
Attendees: R. Reek, P. Gallego, J. Sevilla, R. Principe,
H. Shin, P. Rodriguez, D. Palmer, R. Siemann, R.
Noble, D. Walz
1. Discussion with R. Reek
and P. Gallego on fire detection/suppression
requirements for laser room:
a) They advised installation
of air-duct smoke detectors by the cleanroom
contractor and ionization smoke
detectors by SLAC after room is complete.
P. Gallego
will supply H. Shin with correct wording for describing the duct detectors in
the bid document. No one-hour rating for fire survival of the
room walls is required.
b) Fire suppression in the
laser room is not required since ESB is not fully
protected by fire
sprinklers, but having it can reduce equipment loss. A
so-called FM200 gaseous
extinguisher system is estimated at $10-15k
minimum, and can be
installed during construction or added later. For very
early smoke detection,
one-port VESDA units for single rooms are available
for $2-3k.
2. J. Sevilla
reported that he is waiting for the final flow meter for the E163
modulator cooling
instrumentation before starting installation. Part is expected
by Thursday 2/19. It was
decided to have M. Racine's EFD workers first
complete the hole drilling
for waveguide supports Thursday or Friday
(2/19-2/20), and then do the
cooling instrumentation installation.
3. J. Sevilla
will generate a purchase requisition for the water manifold
installation in the E163
hall and its connection to the 8-Pack manifold.
Target date to start work is
March 1. After this work is complete, the
hall smoke detectors can be
activated.
4. D. Palmer distributed an
updated electrical power list for the laser room. Items outside the laser room
will be powered from a separate breaker panel, but this electrical installation
will not be part of the laser room contract. R.
the laser room bid package,
and update our in-house electrical drawing to
show the location of the
planned laser room panels. D. Palmer will revise the laser room power
spreadsheet based on the discussions and distribute to Shin, Amador and
5. H. Shin reported that a
first draft of the laser room bid package will be ready by Wednesday 2/25.
