Quadrupole-type BPMs
slide 6 from Steve Smith's CD1 talk 11/4/98
Description:
Requirements:
| Parameter | Value | Conditions |
| Resolution | 1 mm rms | @ 6x103 e- single bunch |
| Position Stability | 1 mm | over 24 hours (!) |
| Position Accuracy | 200 mm | wrt quad magnetic center |
| Position Dynamic Range | ±2 mm | |
| Charge Dynamic Range | 5x108to 1.4x1010 e- per bunch | |
| Number of bunches | 1-95 or 1-190 | |
| Bunch spacing | 1.4 or 2.8 ns |
Baseline Cost Model
We assume thatQ-BPMs will be instrumented by the same processor developed for the
NLC Damping rings. Signal amplitudes in a -10 MHz bandwidth around 7 14 MHz are
demodulated and digitized in a module based on the PEP-II BPM processor.
Design Goal (What we realy plan to do)
We expect to economize by developing a switched-capacitor analog memory chip, but
do not depend on it for initial costing purposes.
