8 pack meeting notes November 6th, 2001
Agenda:
1.
Baseline Configuration - Leif Eriksson
2. Configuration
Management - Dennis Atkinson
3. Klystron
water chiller update - Javier Sevilla
4. Baseline
Schedule - Scott Anderson
Notes:
- Baseline
Configuration Presentation (.ppt) - Leif Eriksson
- 8
Pack conceptual designs are beginning to be put under configuration
control.
- The
following conceptual designs have been frozen, which means they cant
changed without review by 8 Pack management and any effected systems.
i.
Modulator Power Supply Location
ii.
Modulator Wishbone Design being done LLNL
iii.
Raised floor around racks and modulator.
- Still
Open Issues
i.
Secondary Containment for Modulator oil. 3 options are being assessed.
ii.
Vacuum electronics and cabling configuration. Being evaluated.
- Configuration
Management Presentation (.ppt) Dennis Atkinson
- Interface
Control Document template is
a form that was used at NIF and will be used the 8 Pack project.
- The
interface Matrix
shows the identified interfaces.
There are 30 ICDs to be written for 60 interfaces. Interfaces are
counted twice in matrix.
- Dennis
will send out the ICDs to every identified group and he will contact all
the groups to get the information written down into ICDs.
- There
is no formal configuration software in place at the moment, but it is
being initiated.
- Chiller
Requirements revisited Javier Sevilla
- Three
chiller options and their costs:
i.
Air cooled chiller inside ESB is cheapest
ii.
Air cooled outside ESB
+ $12500
iii.
Water cooled inside ESB
+ $5494
- Costs
do not include spare.
Question: Should a spare
chiller be purchased?
- Question:
Can the chiller type used at CID be used for 8 Pack? Answer: The specification for 8 Pack chiller requires a much higher
pressure than the CID chillers put out.
Would need to add a booster pump.
See Action item 1
- Question: Do we need a chiller for cooling the
klystron magnets? Answer: That is the current specification, but
the first XP3 has not been run so there is no data back up the modeling
which set the specification.
Thermal data should be available in January. Question: can we wait until January to
order the chiller? See Action
Item 2
- Baseline
Schedule Presentation (.ppt) Scott Anderson
- Presentation
shows some of the schedule objectives.
Most dates shown in presentation are ending dates, except for the
test dates. Full schedule is
available on the 8-Pack web.
Action Items:
- See if
using a CID type chiller and booster pump is cost effective and see if
there are spares for the CID chiller.
Javier Sevilla
- What
is the latest date that the chiller can be ordered and arrive in time to
be installed for running the 4 Pack?
- Javier Sevilla
- What
is the schedule for determining the earthquake specifications for the
modulator, klystrons and the racks?
- Leif Eriksson
