8 pack meeting notes – September 25th, 2001

Agenda:

Notes:

  1. Modulator – R. Cassel
    1. Received draft klystron specification for protection instrumentation and power requirements.  Some details are still needed, but it is a good starting point.
    2. Need 1 rack near modulator stack.
  2. Controls – R. Chestnut
    1. Need to know scope of LLRF work for complete estimate.  LLRF should have a first pass design next week.
  3. PPS System/ ES&H – P. Bong & K. Jobe
    1. K. Jobe will make presentation to ES&H about 8 pack project sometime in October.    Will consult with D. Schultz about presentation.
  4. Vacuum Instrumentation -  E. Hamner
    1. Want to purchase vacuum power supplies in October.  Need to review count and specifications before purchase.  (See Action Item 1)
    2.  Klystrons have 6 ion pumps each.  Need to understand power supply needs.  (See Action Item 1)
  5. Cable Plant – P. Rodriguez
    1. Presented layout of trays near modulators and racks.  Trays fit underneath the raised floor area.
    2. Need to get layout of SLED II and DLDS system on top of NLCTA shielding. (See action item 2)
  6. Conventional Facilities – F. Asiri
    1. Presented raised floor proposal.  One cost bid is for $35,000 for 1200 sq ft.  

                                                              i.      There is a safety concern that the removable tiles must lock into place even when tiles next to them are removed.  This should be reviewed.  

  1. RF Distribution – J. Cournelle
    1. Review SLED II system next week.
  2. Klystron – J. Cournelle
    1. First XP-3 will be pumped down next week.
    2. Specification given to Modulator group (see #1).
  3. 8-Pack Management and System engineering
    1. Schedule – S. Anderson

                                                              i.      Showed Tech division running and downtime schedule.  PEP II’s downtime starts July  1st and goes until the end of September. 

                                                            ii.      The 8 Pack project will probably receive little support in the weeks prior and all during the PEP II downtime.

                                                          iii.      8 pack work should be included in downtime scheduling.

    1.  Drawing Numbers – M. Ofengender

                                                              i.      Meyer Ofengenden will keep track of drawing number assignments.  Blocks of assembly drawing numbers have been allocated to the various groups.  To see assignments go to web page at: drawings page

    1. Account numbers -  S. Anderson

                                                              i.      New charge account numbers for the 8-Pack project should be ready in early October.

Action Items:

  1. Review pump layout and count before purchase of pump powers supplies.  Make sure klystron pump needs are met by pumping scheme.  Carl Rago.
  2. Need to give P. Rodriguez (Cable Plant ) layout of SLED II and DLDS systems so he can determine cable tray layout on top of NLCTA shielding.  – B. McKee
  3. Review raised floor/ cable tray proposal vs. modulator and rack layout. – D. Schultz
    1. How is the raised floor proposal effected by the rack access?
    2. How is the raised floor proposal effected by the new idea of side access to the modulator tank?
    3. How does a possible 3 – 10’ wide secondary containment oil tank effect the raised floor proposal?
    4. How does assemble scenarios of the 8-Pack effect the raised floor proposal?
