8 pack meeting notes September 18th 2001
1) Specifications needed by systems to
develop design, budget and schedule.
1. Vacuum
Instrumentation E. Hamner
a. Needs to
know what gauges are needed and how many of them are needed for the SLED and
DLDS systems. Needs count from C. Rago
b. Need to
understand the valve structure. Will
have meeting to determine valve locations.
c. Need early
purchase of 6 crates of Kaiser power supplies at 8k$/crate.
2. Racks M.
Ortega
a. Need more
details of what is in the racks. Have
input from LLRF, Controls and Vacuum.
b. Modulator/Klystron
rack needs and placement should be specified with in regards to machine
protection equipment. Cassel will
provide spec after getting input from Klystron.
c. Need
overall power requirements, so they can be passed to conventional facilities.
3. Modulator
R. Cassel
a. Need power
requirements for XP-3s from Klystron group, so modulator power supply
specification can be determined.
b. Need to
know what klystron interlocks will be inputs to the M-K interlock system.
c. M-K system
design is being discussed. There is an
ongoing discussion as to what parts of the system the LLRF system or the
Modulator PLC will pickup.
4. Controls
R. Chestnut
a. Need to
determine what parts of the controls system will be EPICS and what will be
CAMAC.
b. The
control system requirements of the 8 Pack project are not clear, but the
controls group is gearing up to use EPICS heavily
c. Need
experimental DAQ requirements. There
is a meeting on 9/19/01 to determine these needs.
d. Need system interlock requirements. Need to understand modulator PLC and LLRF
interface. This is being discussed, see
3c.
5. LLRF
S. Smith
a. Need
channel count and bandwidth determination for channels. Frisch will give first pass answer within
the next day.
6. RF
Distribution S. Marnock
a. SLED parts
list and layout are mostly finished.
List should be done this week and the component layout by early next

underneath. It is thought that most
utilities will be put there.
8. Conventional
Facilities J. Sevilla
a. Will be
able to get power for 8-Pack without interrupting NLCTA
b. Preliminary
calculations for water system show a need for 300 g/min which should not
require any new pumps if End Station A and Spear dont have any new water
requirements.
c. Will
report on raised floor proposal and electrical power designs next week.
