Aim of this page is to link the different activities on photon collider detector R&D in the framework of the World-Wide Study of Physics and Detectors for Future Linear e+e- Colliders. An overall description of the R&D program of the World-Wide Study can be found in the Linear Collider Detector R&D paper available as postscript or PDF version. For other activities in the International Linear Collider Detector R&D see this WWW page
The photon collider detector has many of the same requirements as the detector for the e+e- experiment since it is looking for similar final states. A significant constraint on the detector design is the need to integrate the interaction region with the lasers and optics needed to focus the laser pulse. The major difference between the detectors comes from the fact that the the photon collider is expected to have a much higher rate of gamma-gamma to hadron events, a larger rate for pair production and increased neutron backgrounds from the expanded aperture of the extraction line beam pipe. This will increase the occupancy in the detectors and will impose additional requirements on the detectors and create some degradation in tracking and jet reconstruction
