We discussed the preprint of W. Schnell (CERN) "Cooling And Vibration In The CLIC Main Accelerating Structure" and its implications for NLC. Sri Adiga (Stanford University) reported the content and the physics described in the paper. The estimated motion of 1 micron (for CLIC parameters) is below tolerances for the structure jitter, however the concern may be a coupling of vibrations to neighboring quadrupoles. The applicability of the estimations presented in the paper has its limitations, and though it may be possible to derive more universal estimations, the need for a measured data was apparent.
Joe Frisch reported about the progress with active stabilization system, in particular about possible need to build a faster real time measuring/processing system for the next step (multiple compact objects or an extended object).
