Mechanical Design of the LARP Rotatable Collimator
Phase I Collimator Engineering Drawings from CERN
- The Phase_I_drawings directory contains initial release of several different collimator assemblies drawings as well as stands, plugins, etc common to all.
- The collimator model we're working with is LHCTCS, along with the 45 degree base. The final production drawings for this one are located in the PhaseI_final directory. The top level assembly is LHCTCS__0001.
- A viewer for these files is located in the Phase_I_Drawings/Viewer_HPGL directory.

TO VIEW A LIST OF RELEASED (i.e. FINAL) DRAWINGS ENTER:
- SERIES =396 (all LARP COLLIMATION: drawings will be in this series)
- TITLE WORDS = LARP
For historical reasons LARP is sharing SERIES=396 with the now defunct NLC project.
YOU MAY equivalently enter
- SERIES=396
- BASE = 002
While LARP at SLAC has reserved BASE NUMBERS 001-020, currently (2008-July-21) all released drawings are in BASE=002NOTE THAT PREFIX IDENTIFIES THE TYPE OF DRAWING
- SA = ASSEMBLY OR SUBASSEMBLY
- PF = PART
- ID = INSTALLATIONA user unfamiliar with the LARP Rotatable Collimator should begin by clicking on a high level assembly drawing and “drilling down” through the subassembly and parts. As of 2008-July-21 no assembly drawings have been released.

All 3D solid models for the LARP Rotatable Collimator in Solid Edge CAD format are in the “MECH” folder in eitherthe "Released Area" or "Prerelease Area". If you are a casual viewer (e.g. physicist) you will need SLAC’s MD department to install “Insight” database software and Solid Edge on your computer. Then you will have read-only access to these files. Each attempt to open a file will result in an apparent failure as the system tells you that you have “Insufficient Privileges”. Persevere and click “OK”. In the next dialog box Insight will let you open up a read-only copy of the file or make a copy of it suitable for your edits. Needless to say, you will need some knowledge of Solid Edge to do anything with what you see. It is annoying that you go through this for each assembly, sub assembly or part, but that’s life.
Note that:
.asm files are ???? Assemblies
.par files are “Parts”
.cfg files are ???
. par files are ????
.dft files are ???
