LARP Collaboration Meeting-10/5/2005 (31)

8:30:00 AM-5:30:00 PM

Agenda: This meeting held at Pheasant Run Resort near Fermilab
We record here the talks in the Collimation Section on 10/6/05 08:30-10:00 and the final summary talk.
Summary:

1 .) id=91  Thomas Markiewicz --  SLAC Phase II Collimator Status  (45 min)

Summary: SLAC, after a critical June 2005 meeting with its CERN colleagues, has determined the parameters of a collimator it believes it can build and that it believes will meet the requirements of the CEZRN collimation system for secondary hybrid collimators. This talk describes the current design.

2 .) id=92  Dean Still --  Crystal Collimation Tests at Fermilab  (15 min)

Summary: Crystal coolimation has been tried with good efficiency. Results are presented.

3 .) id=93  Nick Simos --  Status of Irradiation Studies at BNL (presented by N. Mokhov)  (20 min)

Summary: Nikolai Mokhov showed the slides that Nick prepared showing the results of the irradiation studies Nick has organized at BNL of the C-C material of the Phase I collimators. Irradiation has been completed. An estimation of the radiation dose in dpa in in progress; measurement of physical properties will occur soon. Measurements of Phase I and II materials at BNL and Fermilab are planned.

4 .) id=94  Nikolai Mokhov --  Studies of Tertiary Collimators for LHC  (15 min)

Summary: New results include the comparison of collimator in/out. Studies to be repeated with new loss maps recently provided by CERN.

5 .) id=95  Thomas Markiewicz --  Summary of LARP Collimator Activities in the 4/1-10/1/05 Period  (30 min)

Summary: Tom summarized the status of the 4 tasks in the collimator program.
