SLAC LARP Phase II Collimation-7/26/2005 (27)

10:00:00 AM-11:00:00 AM

Agenda: Review Eric Doyle design of RF fingers
Review status of "new" FLUKA at SLAC
Review status of SixTrack code at SLAC
Review progress towards a prototype CDR
Summary: See Eric's files for the latest in how the rf contact might be made between the beam pipe and the collimator jaws. This information has been forwarded to Francesco Ruggiero and Ralph Assmann.

Yunhai has received the latest copy of the SixTrack code from CERN, but has not had time to work on it. He will make a run increasing the length of the primary collimators from 20cm to 60cm so we can begin to estimate effect of that change on the heat load of the secondary collimators.

Lew will also immediately do a "old style" FLUKA run where he changes the primaries to 60cm. Tom will ask CERN if they have "official" hit maps availabe for this case. Lew will get in touch with Alberto Fasso to try to get the "new style" FLUKA up and running again at SLAC.

Tom promised to begin an outline of the Prototype CDR as we have a rapidly approaching target date of Sept.1, 2005 for a first draft.

1 .) id=87  Eric Doyle --  Repeat of 7/18/05 presentation of RF finger concept  (20 min)

Summary: Eric explained scheme to Yunhai & Lew, who were not present last week. Files are those of 7/18, which were sent to CERN for comments.
